Patricia Castle Richardson (born February 23, 1995) is an American actress best known for her role as Jill Taylor in the ABC comedy Home Improvement and Helen.
Groundhog Day co-star Stephen Tobolowsky was the first choice to play Tim's partner in Tool Time, Al in Home Improvement.
Richardson plays Helen Potts, a neighbor who is good at tools (yes, a nod to the character in Allen Home Improvement), but who annoys nearby houses with her noisy power tools. Richardson says she felt welcome on the set of Last Man Standing, especially since so did a large part of the team (and director John Pasquin) they worked on Home Improvement. Richardson played Helen Potts in two episodes of Last Man Standing, and her first appearance in the aptly titled Helen Potts was riddled with calls from Home Improvement. The series cast him as Tim The Tool Man Taylor, who growls A LOT, host of a home improvement show called Tool Time, but most of the drama revolved around his domestic life with his wife Jill (Patricia Richardson) and their three children. Last Man Standing also embraced Allen's past in Home Improvement on a regular basis, including the actor reprising Tim Taylor in an episode entitled Dual Time. Richardson hadn't appeared in a half-hour comedy since she and Allen finished Home Improvement in 1999. Richardson played Tim's wife, Jill, in Home Improvement, and it was a joint decision between her and Allen that the comedy would end after eight seasons, since they were afraid that it would become obsolete.
